Abstract

This research presents and examines eighteen Qur’anic references cited by Al-Marzuqi in his book Al- Azminah wal- Amkenah —most of which are concentrated in the first chapter of his work. It identifies the contexts in which these references are used, their themes in grammatical works, and traces the views of exegetes and grammarians regarding them. Subsequently, the study analyzes Al-Marzuqi’s methodology in employing grammatical evidence within a non-grammatical text, his preferences, and the approaches he employs, such as grouping references with a shared theme, pausing at certain words to explain their meanings and supporting them with poetry or general speech, addressing ellipses and inferred meanings to clarify the overall meaning of the reference for the sake of comprehension and significance. Additionally, the study highlights his comparisons between references, digressions in some cases, and conciseness in others, as well as other methods he uses to convey his ideas to the reader, aligning with the nature of the book he authored. The research adopts a descriptive and inductive methodology in its analysis.
