Abstract

This study aims to determine the attitudes of students of Administrative Sciences of University of Aden towards using smartphones on academic performance in the subject of the Computer Principles2 (Excel). The study hypotheses were derived from previous studies, and the researcher adopted the descriptive approach to describe the relationship between the use of smartphones and academic performance with regard to practical education (seminar). The study population consisted of the first-year students in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Management and Marketing departments. The population were 800 students during the second semester of the academic year 2021-2022. We conducted an online survey among 121 respondents. It consisted of 13 items. The results revealed that the attitudes of students' use of smartphones in the subject Computer Principles2 (Excel) were high. Also showed that there was a statistically significant effect at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) for the attitudes of students of using smartphones in the academic performance. The results discovered that there were no statistically significant differences towards their gender and scientific specialization.
