Abstract

This study deals with the vocabulary that indicate going up and going down by Bani Salim Hijaz contemporary study, and analysis of the contemporary and ancient meaning, their uses and explain the connotations of these words. Followed by presenting evidence from Arabic literature to find out what of these vocabulary in the line with standard Arabic and showing changes that may occur to these words.  It adopted the descriptive and analytical approach. the study has counted twenty-two words, twelve of which are used to express going up, while ten words to express going down. The study recommends studying the words used in contemporary life and knowing their origin from the intruder, to enrich the contemporary lexicon with eloquent words used in daily life and spread them.
