Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon Muhammad, his family, and all his companions .And then, this research is entitled: (The Historical and Doctrinal Principles of the Interpretation of Attributes). This research includes an introduction and preface, three sections, and a conclusion. The research and study dealt with a definition of each word. The title of the research. I also explained the motivations for interpretation, its characteristics, and its danger. I explained the categories of attributes according to both the predecessors and theologians. I also spoke about the historical origins of the doctrine of interpretation and its impact on theologians. Then I studied and criticized the principles that theologians relied on in interpreting attributes. Then I concluded the research with a conclusion that included several results. And recommendations: First: Results:
- The duty of a Muslim is to prove to God what attributes he has proven for himself in the Qur’an and Sunnah, and deny what God has denied in Himself.
- It is necessary to say that the interpretation of the attributes is an accusation against God (and His Messenger) for not making it clear.
- The metaphor was an excuse to deny many of the established attributes of perfection and majesty of God (in the Qur’an and Sunnah).
- There is a clear contradiction between the interpreter in interpreting and proving the attributes, and everyone claims that he did not reach what he arrived at except by means of reason. In fact, one of them may contradict himself; Which indicates their bankruptcy and the falsehood of what they claim.
- The interpreter opened the door of evil to the Muslims, through which the esotericists entered to promote their disbelief, and made it easy for some to accept the infidel exaggerations of the imams of the solution and the union, and he is what brought down the sanctity and prestige of the texts, so the immoral and disobedient ones dared to transgress them under the pretext of interpretation.
Second: Recommendations:
- I recommend writers, thinkers, and preachers to take a serious stand and impartial research into the doctrinal issues that have led to division and disagreement among Muslims.
- Abandoning the doctrine of complacency and confusion practiced by some in the name of not preoccupying Muslims with subsidiary issues that lead to disagreement among Muslims. The issue relates to the origin of religion in resorting to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and the doctrine of interpretation that sanctifies philosophy and reason.
