Abstract

This study examines the extent to which strategic‑planning practices are applied by the leaders at the University of Taiz and explores whether these levels differ according to job role, academic qualification, and years of professional experience. It also investigates the impact of participation in training. Using a descriptive–analytical design, the study collected data were collected via a structured questionnaire administered to 268 respondents, including faculty members holding administrative positions as well as key administrative staff. The results indicate a high overall application of strategic‑planning skills (M = 3.61, SD = 0.84 on a 5‑point scale). Among the six dimensions assessed, environmental analysis ranked highest (M = 3.90), followed by vision development (M = 3.84), mission articulation (M = 3.79), and strategic‑objective setting (M = 3.69). Monitoring of program implementation (M = 3.37) and plan evaluation (M = 3.06) received moderate ratings. Analysis of variance (α = .05) revealed no significant differences in overall strategic‑planning skill application by job role. However, significant variations were observed for academic qualification, years of experience, and training participation, suggesting that higher credentials, longer tenure, and formal training are associated with greater engagement in strategic‑planning practices.
